Meet Nurture, a parenting and tumblelog theme with a quirky and colorful design. The theme's features include a wide one-column layout; a featured content carousel; and support for all post formats, your own custom header image, and much more.
**Optimal layout on different media devices**
Nurture is responsive, from desktop to mobile and everything in between. The design will adapt to any screen without sacrificing usability or design integrity.
Nurture supports all post formats (http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats). Each post format has a special style to distinguish it from the rest.
**Homepage Image Carousel**
Want to highlight some of your posts? Consider using the Featured Content tag to your standard posts. It will add your posts to the carousel on the homepage. To enable this feature, make sure that Jetpack (http://jetpack.me/) is installed. Then Navigate to Settings ¡ú Reading, scroll down to the section labeled "Featured content", enter the name of a tag and click the blue "Save Changes" button at the bottom.
Want to highlight your visual content? Consider adding a Featured Image (http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Thumbnails) to your posts. Featured images appear above the content on the blog index and archive pages.
Nurture allows you to add links to your Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tumblr accounts to the theme's footer. To enable this feature, make sure that Jetpack (http://jetpack.me/) is installed. First connect to your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and/or Tumblr accounts with Publicize under Settings ¡ú Sharing. Then navigate to Customizer ¡ú Connect to add links to these services on the theme's secondary sidebar.
**Custom Header Image**
Add a Custom Header Image to your site by going to Appearance ¡ú Header.
First, upload a new image or choose one from your Media Library. Once uploaded, you will have the opportunity to crop the image and set a few more options.
Note: Nurture works best with custom header images that are 940 pixels wide and at least 185 pixels high.
If you take a look at the demo site (http://nurturedemo.wordpress.com/), you will see a search form in the top right of the main menu. To set this up for your own site, visit the Customizer and click on "Theme Options." Tick the checkbox next to "Show search form in header," and click "Save."
Configure a custom menu that will display in the header of your site by going to Appearance ¡ú Menus and assigning it to the Primary Menu area. This menu will display your pages if no custom menu is set.
Nurture supports three widget areas -- one on each side of the content -- configured under Appearance ¡ú Widgets.
